The Heavenly Perspective

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6).

This verse gives three instructions, first is to trust in the Lord. I know that living out our trust in Jesus isn't very easy at times. But when we choose to put our trust in Him, it shifts our focus off of ourselves and unto the Lord. The more we trust in Jesus, our perspectives change, our desires change, our thoughts change, and we start desiring what God wants for our life instead of what "we want".

One quote from the Enduring Word Commentary says, "Trusting God with all your heart means to decide to put away our own understanding, and instead to choose to trust God and His understanding"

(Guzik, Enduring Word Bible Commentary, ewm@enduringword.com).

Which leads to the second instruction, Lean not on your own understanding. God Knows what's best for you!! <3 loosing your grip of control will free you immensely. Once you allow Jesus to direct your life and stop taking matters into your own hands, you just watch and see what the Lord will do. He will literally blow your mind! Sometimes in life, we can become easily tempted to base situations on what we see right before our eyes. We tend to forget that God is there or if He really sees our situation.

A dear friend of mine said this to me a while ago, "Noelle, give God back the pen. Stop trying to snatch it from Him". And to be honest, I was... I wanted full control of my life and what I"thought" was best. All because of what I saw before me. I was thinking from an earthly perspective, not a Heavenly one. But once I decided to let go of what "I wanted" and put my full reliance on Jesus and His will for my life, things changed. My whole life changed. And I felt so much peace. <3 The Bible tells us in 2 Corinthians 4:18, "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. Since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal" (NIV). And we see in Colossians 3:1-2, "Since then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.

So, how to we shift our perspective on what God wants for our life?

We need to submit. We need to submit to God's ways even if it looks different than what we thought it would. And shift our heart and mind to a Heavenly perspective. Which is the third instruction. God's ways are always higher than our own and He has our best interest at heart. To fully submit means to fully surrender. There's humility when we give God our "Yes". One piece of encouragement I want to leave with you is this. In order to go places we've never gone before, we need to do things we've never done. This requires us to:

#1 Trust in the Lord

#2 Lean not on our understanding

#3 Submit to God

Yes, it's scary and uncertain. But it's so beautiful when we let God work things out in our life. So give God your yes! Even when you have no idea what's going on right now. God knows. He sees your tears, your questions, the pain, He sees all of it. Nothing catches Him by surprise. God promises us that He will direct our path. This isn't Just a statement, but a PROMISE. <3

I wanted to write this for someone who may be going through a hard time right now. Please know that you're not alone. Sometimes situations we go through feel bleak, and it can be very discouraging. To the point where we just want to take matter into our own hands. But know that God is always on your side interceding for you and working things out behind the scenes on your behalf (Romans 8:35). So don't base all your life on what your eyes can see. Look to God and fully trust in His plan. <3

Blessings!

~ Noelle
